Year 12

Sharon De Costa

I have been teaching at Mullumbimby and Byron Bay High School since the late 1990’s in casual and temporary positions. I have taught over many faculties including Film and Video, Art, Science and Maths. However, my passion for my trained subject area PDHPE has now allowed me to gain a permanent position at Mullumbimby High School. Of which I am very honoured to have achieved. I have worked as the Sports organiser for 10 years and during that time was given the role of Zone Secretary for a two year rotation. During this time I learnt a lot in the way schools interact and function. An I am pleased to say that Mullumbimby High School and their teaching staff and students always do us proud.

Having taken over the Advisor role from Adam Culbert, I hope to continue with his passionate enthusiasm in the mentoring and caring for all students in the cohort. Mullumbimby has a very caring, friendly family orientated approach an over the years I have seen many student transition through the school in many positive ways and then move on to pursue their passions in life. My goal is to encourage, support and nurture each student in Year 12 so they gain fulfilment and achievement in the areas they are passionate about themselves. Especially to help those that might find it a struggle at times.

All of my three children and multiple nieces and nephews have attended Mullumbimby High School with great results in a variety of different disciplines. I feel Mullumbimby High school supports each individual to flourish within their chosen area/s.

I look forward to guiding Year 12 through a happy fulfilling time at Mullumbimby High School.
